Robert Abrams, the curmudgeon instructor, is a master of the tall tale. When not creating fables, he is an excellent instructor. Robert enjoys working one on one with students on specific projects and skills they want to improve on. He enjoys demonstrating specific techniques upon request, especially for beginners. Robert has designed a sequence of class lessons to make sure new students get a taste of all the basic skills needed. His handbuilding demos have something for everyone. Robert strives to create fun, educational experience for all of his students, no matter what their skill level.

In this introductory hand-building course we will cover all the basic techniques including pinching, coiling, and slab work along with glazing and other slip and surface decoration techniques. Students are encouraged to reach beyond their comfort zone no matter the skill level. Along with weekly demos, Robert will work one on one with students to help with their projects.

Please note: There will be no Pottery wheel instruction or guidance offered during this class. All instructional focus will be on handbuilding.

Price includes $50 materials fee to cover the cost of clay, glaze and firing services. In order to reduce our studio's environmental impact, all courses include 15 lbs of reclaim clay and one flat rate firing and glaze fee. All other clay bodies are still available for purchase in studio.

Adult students must have their own tools. Starter tool kits can be purchased on the first day of class at the studio for $25/kit (plus tax).
