About

Come explore your creative side with clay. Get in touch with the earth and get centered!

Mill Valley Potter’s Studio is a place where artists of all skill levels, ages 7+, can gather and be inspired. Develop or hone your skills in throwing on the wheel or hand-building & sculpture. Our skilled instructors teach students the technical and aesthetic aspects of the ceramic arts. If you are just beginning, you’ll learn the fundamentals and flourish. If you are already a potter, but want to learn new techniques and refine your style, this is the place to evolve. Work at your own pace and enjoy high quality clays and glazes and learn alternative firing techniques. Become part of our creative community.

The Studio includes the following equipment:

2 Electric kilns that fire to Cone 6
1 Raku kiln (outdoor)
Up to 3 large hand-building tables
9 Electric pottery wheels
1 Slab roller
Various press molds
1 wedging table with multiple wedging surfaces
A variety of Cone 6 dipping glazes and underglazes

Mill Valley Potter’s Studio offers adult classes, after-school youth classes, parent/child classes, private lessons and parties, and a variety of workshops. Most adult classes include up to 3 hours of open studio time weekly to practice outside of class.

Don’t worry, if you miss a class, you can make it up on another day of the same week—but remember to notify your instructor.

Most classes are open studio style to accommodate all levels. Instructors perform weekly demonstrations for the class and work with each student to help develop their personal style and enhance their skills.

The Studio is located at GROW Art & Garden Education Center. GROW features event space for hire, and three independent businesses including, Mill Valley Potter’s Studio, The Little Art Studio, and California Native Plant Nursery.

GROW provides a place that enriches community and furthers the sustainability movement through art and garden education. GROW is a collaborative effort by the owners of Proof Lab Surf Shop, Alpha Dog and a few dedicated Marin County art and farming enthusiasts.
